With the acid on the tissue, any abnormal areas will appear white and from those areas that biopsies will be taken. During this appointment, the doctor will put an acidic mixture on the female’s cervix and then view it using a colposcope. A colposcopy exam allows to detect the stage of cervical dysplasia, cervical cancer and other abnormalities.
