During pregnancy colposcopy is possible to determine venereal wart and other problems, but cryosurgery and other methods of treatment are applied after delivery.
The main focus of the exam is to determine if there are cancer cells present on the cervix. When a pregnant woman has a Pap smear come back abnormal is not uncommon for the doctor to schedule one of these exams as follow up.
