There is a blood test for discovering the virus though blood test that detects the antibody to the virus, not the virus itself. It can take two weeks to three months after exposure to HSV for antibodies to be detected in the blood.

Cryotherapy, Oral Herpes
The virus is usually treated with antiviral drugs such as acyclovir and valacyclovir. Acyclovir can be taken the first time you get the virus and during later outbreaks of the virus and other drugs can be used for later outbreaks. If taken within 24 hours after symptoms begin, acyclovir makes the virus outbreaks shorter and less severe. Transmitting genital herpes is possible even when there are no visible symptoms and cannot be treated with cryotherapy, another strain is oral herpes.
